We are pleased to announce that Mindful Pediatrics is open!
Although we have been advised to keep our physical location closed to the public, we are still available to serve you, your family and our community during this uncertain time.
Like many other businesses, we have been able to harness the power of technology to continue to provide our services to those who need us.
Sick & Acute Medical Advice/Appointments
We have already begun to offer sick appointments over the phone and through video chat, as necessary. While we generally prefer to see sick patients at the office, this is working incredibly well and we have gotten fantastic feedback! Yesterday alone, Dr. Roy was able to prevent four people from going to the Emergency Room.
We will keep adjusting our approach, as necessary, and have greatly appreciated our patient’s flexibility and ongoing trust!
As you can probably imagine, we are receiving an incredible volume of calls every day. All medical questions and advice will need to be addressed through a virtual appointment. Simply call the office at 303.318.4102 and Gretchen will schedule an appointment time for you.
Well Child Care Appointments
Although we can appreciate that it may be hard to look beyond the day-to-day issues that we are currently facing, we are trying to look a bit into the future to help prevent some potential obstacles that might arise.
Understandably, some of you might be feeling that you will just cancel your child’s upcoming Well Child Care Appointment right now and reschedule for when life normalizes again.
However, with spring and summer approaching quickly, we ask you to reconsider. We are always at our busiest in the early spring & summer due to our patients’ need for school, sports, and camp physicals.
Each year this brings thousands of forms our way. In a “normal year” we are already working overtime to accommodate these needs. However, we anticipate that if you cancel/postpone your child’s upcoming Well Care Appointment, we will be unable to get everyone rescheduled in a timely enough fashion to accommodate their needs.
Camps, sports teams and schools generally require a Well Child Care Appointment within one year of completing those forms.
We would like to encourage those of you who have Well Child Care Appointments scheduled to keep your existing appointment and plan to do it virtually. As I mentioned already, the feedback for our new virtual platform has been fantastic.
Once it is safe to open our doors again, we will be calling you to schedule a short follow up appointment at the office where we will check heights, weights, and perform physical exams at NO extra charge.
For those of you who do not currently have an appointment scheduled but know that you will need a Well Child Care Appointment or forms completed for spring/summer, this is an excellent time to schedule an appointment while you and your children are at home.
Consultations for Complex & Chronic Issues
We have always offered phone appointments for complex cases and chronic issues and we would encourage those who need consultations for new or chronic issues to experience our virtual appointments. These phone appointments are generally scheduled for behavioral issues, anxiety, depression, sleep issues, digestive disorders and more.
Debbie has been offering phone sessions for more than 15-years and is working only by phone from home for the time-being. She is a pro at this and works with clients all over the world! She is also available to help support you and your family’s needs during this time. You can reach Debbie by email or directly at 303.938.1468.

Shipping Supplements & Our Online Supplement Stores

Again, simply call 303.318.4102 or email Gretchen and let her know what you need and she will get your order ready for shipment.
One additional supplement worth mentioning: N-Acetyl Cysteine (NAC)
N-Acetyl Cysteine or NAC has come to our attention as a useful supplement for some during this time. NAC has been used in both allopathic and natural medicine for many years. Western doctors have used NAC as an antidote to acetaminophen overdose in emergency rooms and intensive care units. In the natural medicine world, NAC has been used to help break down mucus secretions, as an antioxidant, and to increase glutathione.
There are some small studies that have shown NAC to be helpful at decreasing the duration and severity of the Flu and anecdotal reports that it might help prevent the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) associated with COVID-19 as well.
- Kids 5-12 years: 300 mg, 2 x per day (open a 600 mg capsule and mix half the contents into something yummy for each dose)
- Kids 12+ and adults: 600 mg, 2 x per day
Thank you for taking the time to read all these important communications over the last several weeks. In the midst of this uncertain time, we feel an even greater responsibility to continue to serve those in our practice and our community.
Dr. Roy Steinbock, MD
