Commonly Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

To provide the highest quality of service and care, Mindful Pediatrics operates on a fee-for-service model. This means that we do not accept any insurance for office visits and our patients pay in full at the time of their service.

Our office provides you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement based on your out of network coverage. Because Dr. Roy is a Board Certified Medical Doctor, most of our patients receive significant reimbursement. Your insurance company will be able to provide you with more specific information regarding coverage.

Distance educational consultations (for those residing outside of Colorado) are not considered a medical service, therefore, no superbill is provided.

ARE REFERRALS, IMAGING, AND LABS BILLED TO INSURANCE?

Services conducted outside our office, such as referrals to specialists, imaging such as x-rays, prescriptions, or laboratory testing are generally covered by your insurance policy because these facilities bill your insurance directly.

DOES FEE-FOR-SERVICE MEAN THAT IT COSTS MORE?

Many families discover that paying out-of-pocket at Mindful Pediatrics is often more cost effective than going through insurance.

Given the prevalence of high deductible insurance plans, families often learn that even when utilizing practices that accept their insurance, they still incur out-of-pocket expenses until these high deductibles are fulfilled (typically ranging from $3000 to $6000 or more per individual).

Furthermore, when charged through insurance, these healthcare expenses are often billed at significantly higher rates.

WHAT ABOUT HEALTH SAVINGS AND HEALTH SHARES?

Families commonly leverage flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), health reimbursement accounts (HRA) and Health Share Plans at Mindful Pediatrics. Please consult your policy about the details of your specific account or plan.

DO YOU ACCEPT MEDICAID?

While Medicaid patients are welcome at Mindful Pediatrics, it’s important to understand that you will not receive reimbursement for our office visit fees. However, prescriptions, lab work, imaging, and referrals to other providers are generally covered when approved Medicaid facilities are utilized.
